Quotas, now for “forward castes”

The Kerala government has decided to reserve 10% seats in government colleges and 7.5% seats in universities for “economically backward students among the forward castes.” Just last month, the Supreme Court had allowed the Andhra Pradesh government to set aside 4% seats in professional courses for Muslims with the seats coming from the 27% reserved for OBCs.

I have already written enough stuff on the topic of reservations, and my views haven’t changed since. The policy of quotas is a pathetic one, and so are its supporters.
